MBABANE – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) stands ready to ensure that everyone who attends the King’s Birthday in Mankayane is safe.
To show their commitment to this cause, the REPS has committed to set up a police post at Mankayane Sports Ground, where the birthday celebrations will be held. The police post will come in handy for people who will want to report any criminal activity that might happen at the venue.
This was said by Acting National Police Commissioner Lydia Dlamini yesterday (April 17, 2024) at the REPS Headquarters in Mbabane. She said this after wishing His Majesty King Mswati III a happy birthday, as the King will be celebrating his 56th birthday in Mankayane tomorrow.
“As the Nation gears to join their Majesties, we assure Emaswati that the police service stands united in ensuring their safety as they attend the birthday celebrations,” Dlamini said. She said as the nation knew that the King’s Birthday was coming, it was important for the nation to remember that they should always be safe.
She said the police would be visible on the road, especially the routes leading to Mankayane. She said REPS would set up a police post at the venue to enable people to report whatever they felt needed to be reported.
Dlamini urged motorists to be patient and adhere to the road signs on the route leading to Mankayane. She warned that the road leading to that town had many corners, crossways, and intersections, which could pose a danger to drivers and other road users.
She said motorists should lock their vehicles at the venue and avoid leaving valuables in their cars because they could be stolen.
