MBABANE – Pigg’s Peak City Stars were crowned the champions of the Cabana Ntfonjeni Under-13 championships on Saturday.

They beat Hellenic 2-0 in the finals to take home the E1 500 first prize money and a full set of a soccer kit. This was the first edition of the Cabana Under-13 tournaments that are yet to be played in three other zones being Mbabane, Buhleni and Lobamba.

The runners-up, Hellenic were awarded with E1 000.

Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) Development Officer Sibonangaye Dlamini confirmed the results.

He said Hellenic reached the finals after beating Trounge 2-0 while Pigg’s Peak City Stars went straight to the finals after Maguga Cosmos failed to show up.

This tournament is the 2023 edition that was sponsored to the tune of E200 000 by Lactalis Eswatini (formerly Parmalat). It has benefited over 1 000 kids under the HRFA as 124 teams took part in the tournament that was played as league in the four zones before the knockout stage.

During the media briefing, Lactalis Eswatini Marketing Officer Lucky Phiri said they were proud as a company to contribute positively to the development of football in the country. He said this tournament started in 2014 with a sponsorship of E10 000 under Milky Max and it has grown in the past years and now they were sponsoring it with E200 000 with more teams from different zones added.
