MBABANE – Organic sounds will engulf the city of Mbabane.
This will be tomorrow at the Swaziland Theatre Club, popularly known as the Theatre Club, where local award-winning afro-soul jazz group Quad Element and jazz maestro Siphiwoshort are set to host a post-COVID-19 show dubbed ‘SoulAfroJazz Xperience’.
The event, according to Quad Element Bassist and Founder Enkosy Mdluli, will start at 7pm. General tickets go for E100 and VIP at E150. They will also be available at the door.
“The event is for all Jazz, traditional, and afro-soul music lovers. This will be our first show following the dreadful effects of COVID-19 where many talents were affected,” said Mdluli.
Quad Element, renowned for their award-winning hit song ‘Mhlatsi’, will be featuring Durban artist Elihle as well as local saxophone player Phiwo and renowned percussionist Sanele Simelane as part of their band.
“The band will be delivering known songs including our hit song ‘Mhlatsi’ as well as never-before-heard new songs,” added Mdluli.
Quad Element, known for their unique sound comprising Afro, neo and traditional sounds, broke into the music scene in 2014 with the release of their debut single ‘Buyelekhaya’. The band has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Eryka Badu, Sands, Sphiwoshort, Bholoja, Itallo, Spanela, Johnphillip, Fakazi Samuels, Stimela, Oliver Mtukudzi, Jimmy Dludlu, among other local and international artists.
They first met with Elihle during the Wushwini Arts Festival in Durban in 2017. Since then, Elihle has been featured in most Quad Element live performances locally and abroad.
Sphiwoshort, on the other hand, is a bassist of note and a renowned local Afro/jazz artist known for his debut single ‘Prayer for Rain’. His unique lead on bass has won the hearts of many people. He started his solo project in 2015 and released his first album ‘Prayer for rain’ in 2019 that was launched both in Eswatini and in Spain online. His song ‘Miracle’ was also nominated in MTN SWAMA Awards 2020 ‘Best Jazz Song’.
