RADIO LEGENDS SPARKS THE BEST MEMORIES FOR LISTENERS

MBABANE – Radio listeners were delighted to hear from radio personalities of yesteryears, who brought back fond memories of listening to the radio earlier times.

In commemoration of the national radio day, Eswatini Broadcasting and information services (EBIS) decided to spice up this auspicious day by putting retired radio journalists on air. The audience loved the concept this was sourced from the comments of the listeners made on the radio station Facebook page.

“Thank you very much this is wonderful. It’s nice to hear the people who were born for radio, “said Mpela Mpelas. On the EBIS Facebook page during a live broadcast hosted by a legend radio personality.

The fans of the radio personalities were excited as everything was just old school including the choice of music that was played and the radio personalities used the special jingles which serve as a trademark because the listeners would tell by hearing the jingle and have an idea about which radio legend is about to be on air.

This platform has also drawn traffic to the radio station as people mentioned their friends on Facebook page of the station inviting them to tune in on radio.

Another fan said, I never listened to radio like I am today. The national radio day radio challenged the current radio personalities because they have seen how the legends connected with their audience and are still relevant after not being on air for a long time.

While Sgayoyo Magongo was on air he reached out to his fans through phone calls. During the interaction it was clear that the energy comes natural and the radio personality is dearly loved by his audience.Some of the fans begged the legend to be a commentator on the finals of the Ngwenyama cup and they constantly acknowledged him on how talented he is and the impact he had in broadcasting.
