RED CROSS HAND OVER NEW HOUSE TO CHILD-HEADED FAMILY

MBABANE – The Principal Secretary in the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, Melusi Masuku, reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting people from child-headed homes. This took place at Ekupheleni in the Motshane constituency, where a new two-bedroom house was officially handed over to Gcinile Masuku, a recipient of the government’s Child Headed Household program.

Gcinile Masuku, a resident of Ekupheleni, had previously lived in a deteriorating stick and mud house.

According to The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office shown on Eswatini TV, the collaboration with various stakeholders initiated the program to address the housing needs of vulnerable households. The housing project has so far assisted over 100 child-headed families nationwide.

Melusi Masuku, speaking passionately during the ceremony, emphasized the government’s determination to improve the circumstances of children growing up in challenging environments. He highlighted the progress made through the Child Headed Household program, underscoring the government’s ongoing efforts to uplift disadvantaged communities.

The housing initiative received support from organizations such as the Eswatini Electricity Company and the Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society. Danger Nhlabatsi, the Secretary General of the Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society, commended the collaborative efforts of stakeholders and reiterated their commitment to assisting the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office in similar endeavours.

Gcinile Masuku, was moved by the help, and she expressed her gratitude for the life-changing event. She, along with her two children, will now have a safe and comfortable place to call home. Masuku conveyed her thanks to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office and its partners, stating her profound appreciation for the support provided.

Representing the Ekupheleni Chiefdom, Good Dlamini made a heartfelt plea during the ceremony. He urged community members not to contest the newly constructed house or displace Gcinile Masuku, emphasizing the importance of supporting her after the challenges she had endured.
