This was said by Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society Chairman Bongani Masuku yesterday (April 4, 2024) during the Southern Africa Partnership of Red Cross Societies (SAPRCS) meeting at Hilton Garden Inn, Mbabane. Masuku was delivering his speech during the event, which was also attended by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla, Ministers Sikhumbuzo Dlamini and Bongani Nzima.

Masuku said there were other natural disasters that were a problem to countries in the Southern part of the Africa, as well as in other parts of the world. He threw a challenge on members of the Red Cross to find solutions to these problems by the end of the meeting.

The Chairman also congratulated International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies President Kate Forbes for having been elected as president of the organisation. He also thanked the Prime Minster and the DPM for being there for the local Red Cross Society and making sure that the relationship it had with Government remained positive.

He further thanked them for having facilitated the meeting between His Majesty King Mswati III and President Forbes on Wednesday (April 3, 2024). DPM Dladla, when introducing the Prime Minister, mentioned that the relationship between Red Cross and Govenrment would remain positive because the organisation did a sterling job.

Another advantage, according to Dladla, was that the current Prime Minister worked closely with Red Cross when he was still CEO of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA). So he understood perfectly the importance of Red Cross. She also mentioned that the work that Dlamini did at NDMA elevated him to become the Prime Minister.
