REFUGEES IN ESWATINI RECEIVE MEDICAL HELP, FOOD PARCELS FROM TAIWAN

MBABANE– The Taiwan Technical Mission visited the United Nations Refugees Camp in the Lubombo region to dispense food parcels and medical help.

The refugees received rice, sugar and beans through the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families.

The refugees, who received the parcels, are from Congo, Rwanda and Burundi.

These countries have struggled from civil wars and chose to seek refuge in Eswatini through United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as the Kingdom of Eswatini is relatively stable in terms of politics and economics.

Eswatini has been home to these refugees for decades, some children being born in the camps within the country. A clinic has been set up in the refugee camp to provide services closer to them which provides medical service including primary care, Pap smear and health education.
