HLANE – “At RES we understand and appreciate that we are because the community is.”
These were the words in a statement published by the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation (RES) yesterday after donating boreholes to two communities. The two communities to benefit are Njotjane in the Hlane constituency, as well as Mnjoli in the Mkhiweni constituency.
The donation comes as concerted effort of corporate social responsibility by RES and 22 other companies to ensure clean, accesible water for all communities. The 22 companies were brought together by RES as they are businesses they work with in the country as well as South Africa. They began by organising golf tournaments as a fundraiser, and these collaborative efforts have culminated in a significant improvement in the quality of life for Njotjane and Mnjoli residents.
The companies include G-Fox, the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), Galp, as well the Eswatini Electricity Company, to name a few.
Speaking on behalf RES, Public Relations Officer RES remarked that, “this is a way for us to collaborate with companies we work with so that we can bring aid to the country, especially when it comes to water security.”
Mkhiweni Indvuna Dumisa Mamba expressed immense appreciation to the joint corporate social repsonsibility project. “We are very grateful as the Mkhiweni constituency. It is historical to see such big companies come and give back to our community at Mnjolie. We are grateful to get clean and healthy water, as this is the country’s goal as well.”
According to a statement published by RES yesterday, “To date, 10 water projects in 10 communities, lates at Njonjane and Mnjoli, 596 households and over 4,172 beneficiaries.”
