VUVULANE – RES Corporation employees donated items worth over E30 000 to the family that lost two toddlers when their stick-and-mud hut caught fire.
Among the donated items were two bed sets, blankets, curtains, dishing plates, food parcels and clothing, just to mention a few.
Handing over the donation to the family was RES Corporation CSI Officer Coaster Kunene and Communication Officer Gcina Dlamini.
Kunene said, “On behalf of all our colleagues and management who made this donation a success, we would like to first express our sincere heartfelt condolences and we pray that God mend your hearts after the tragedy that has befallen your family.”
“As employees we felt it deemed fit for us to assist with the little we have and share with you so that you can be able to survive in such times. We know God is with you and will protect you.”
Mhlume Indvuna Yenkhundla Morris Dlamini applauded RES employees and the sugar company’s management for planting the culture of giving to employees.
“I have never seen employees with such warms and it is reflecting that RES Corporation’s contribution to the development of communities and the nation at large has yielded the same obligation even to the employees.”
“The family lost everything when their house burnt down during the spine-chilling incident which happened over a week ago and it is pleasing to note the quick reaction from the employees because this will go a long way to assist the family to pick-up from the incident.”
Engulfed with joy the father of the two late toddlers Ndumiso Mathonsi said; “I am out of words to express the relief and joy that RES Corporation employees have brought to us. First it was a surprise visit from the company to sympathise and express their condolences, and now the employees have brought smiles to our faces. We did not only lose our children on the night of the tragedy but we also lost hope of living. We are grateful for the contribution this company and its employees have shared with us.”
Noteworthy is that it is also the sugar company’s fire personnel who responded quickly by putting out the remaining flames that had already gutted the whole house, with the two toddlers inside.
The Times of Eswatini reported that the children were aged two and three, a girl and a boy, respectively. The mother of the children was reported to have left to buy fat cakes in a nearby shop when she came back to witness the petrifying incident.
Mhlume Indvuna Yenkhundla Morris Dlamini appealed to members of the public for assistance.
“When someone loses everything in one night, nothing will ever be enough to support that person. Anyone with any help can contact me on 7855 7303.”
