MBABANE – In an effort to increase safety and security across Eswatini, the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), together with its various partners, conducted a crime prevention campaign in Bambitje, next to Hluthi, in the Shiselweni region.
The event was held yesterday (May 16, 2024) and was aimed to raise awareness and engage the public in efforts to combat crime and reduce road traffic accidents. The police together with the public were marching which symbolised unity and solidarity in the fight against crime. During the event, different police departments had the opportunity to address citizens, providing valuable information on police services and safety measures.
According to local media reports, Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer (PICO) Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni highlighted the importance of reaching out to communities, stating that it is the police’s responsibility to educate the community. Mnguni said that the police should be committed to visiting more places throughout the Kingdom, as part of their efforts to promote safety and security.
This reflects the police service’s dedication to proactive crime prevention and fostering partnerships with the public. All this was done to empower the community to play an active role in safeguarding their neighbourhoods and enhancing overall safety in Eswatini.
