SANELISO WINS MATOLA OPEN CHALLENGE

TAEKWONDO – Mozambique-based liSwati Taekwondo artist Saneliso Masuku won the -68kg category in the Matola Open Challenge.

The category had eight players competing in the best two out of three systems. Masuku won each and every round to add to his ever-growing pack of medals.

Reached while in Mozambique, Masuku said he was looking forward to the World Championships in May and the All-Africa Games in August.

The 2023 World Taekwondo Championships is the 26th edition of the World Taekwondo Championships and will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 29 May to 6 June 2023. Meanwhile, the Eswatini Taekwondo Federation (ETF) has appointed new national coaches for the different teams.

The seniors coach is Sabomnim Mancoba Motsa and the cadets and kyorugi national teams coach is Master Ndo Nsibandze while Master Sandile Mchunu will head the Poomsar national team. While ETF has used the month of January to catch up on administration stuff which was mainly the selection of committees, review of its strategic plan and constitution, its first competition for the year will be this Saturday and will be a national team tryout for all squads while the first grading will be March 4, 2023.
