MBABANE – The Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO) has come through for three cooperatives under the Ntfonjeni Constituency.

According to the company’s Facebook page, the cooperatives include Mkhovu, Mswati, and Mavulandlela Multipurpose Cooperative Societies. SEDCO has come through for these organisations by offering to assist them with business plan compilation, accessing financial resources, and accessing local markets.

Farmers in these cooperatives face several challenges, including limited funding, scarcity of inputs, and water management issues. SEDCO is committed to paving the way for a thriving agricultural landscape that nourishes the nation and fosters sustained economic prosperity.

SEDCO’s Mnelisi Nsibandze educated the farmers on the significance of maintaining consistency in both supply and quality. He emphasised that it was common for farmers to commit to delivering high-quality products to the market but end up supplying poor-quality products, which resulted in market rejection. This ultimately led to losing the market for farmers.

According to SEDCO, it is worth noting that the success of this project requires the participation of women and young people. The cooperatives involved in this project are making efforts to achieve gender balance and have seen an increase in female membership.

Additionally, it is important to motivate young people to take leadership roles in farming, as they are the future and backbone of the country’s economy, starting from the household level.
