MBABANE – The Small Enterprise Development Company (SEDCO) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with certain parastatals and ministries to advance SMEs in Eswatini.
The signing of the MoU took place yesterday and SEDCO Acting Executive Director Thabiso Nzuza is the one who signed the MoU on behalf of SEDCO. He signed the MoU with representatives from the Eswatini Communications Commission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Eswatini Environment Authority (EEA), Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority, and the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development. The MOU is seen as a significant step in building partnerships and working together to advance small and medium enterprise (SME) development in Eswatini.
The purpose of the MOU is to create a framework for formal collaboration on the establishment and maintenance of tower infrastructure throughout the country. This includes sharing information, resources, and expertise to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of tower infrastructure.
The signatories are committed to working together to promote the efficient and effective delivery of services for the benefit of all stakeholders. The MOU is expected to enhance SME development and improve connectivity throughout the country.
The telecommunication companies involved in the MOU recognise the need to explore innovative solutions to minimise the environmental impact of tower infrastructure and reduce their carbon footprint.
These solutions may include the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power. The companies are committed to exploring these solutions in order to make their operations more sustainable and reduce their impact on the environment. This is in line with the overall goal of promoting SME development and connectivity throughout the country.
