MBABANE – A week of tapping into worldwide economic growth through business.

The Small Enterprise Development Company (SEDCO) in partnership with the Municipal Council of Mbabane and the Industrial Development Company of Eswatini (IDCE) will be hosting a flea market for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). This is set to take place next week Thursday in commemoration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week at the Municipal Council of Mbabane Parking lot.

According to SEDCO on their social media platforms, the SMEs that will be a part of the flea market are those under manufacturing, IT, fashion and design and handicraft sectors.

During an interview with Zamantolo Fakudze, Corporate and Communications Officer at SEDCO, she mentioned that the flea market was an initiative aimed at giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to market themselves.

“This will basically be an opportunity for entrepreneurs in the chosen sectors to market themselves and the products they make. They will get the chance to network so that people are able to get their contact details and know what they do. We felt this would be the best way to promote these SMEs” said Fakudze.

She went on to add that the people who would be marketing their products at the flea market were incubators from SEDCO and also SMEs selected by the Municipal Council of Mbabane under their economic development project, not leaving out those selected by IDCE.

Fakudze also mentioned that SEDCO would be launching a publication on Monday called ‘The Entrepreneur’, that would provide information including business planning, financial planning in business and company registration for SMEs and people exploring entrepreneurship. This would also be a part of the work done in commemoration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week.

According to National Today, the Global Entrepreneurship Week is a global celebration of entrepreneurship that occurs in the second week of November, from November 14 to 20.  During this week, people from various countries worldwide come together through local, national, and global events to create solutions for worldwide economic growth.
