… As Parliament resumes business

LOBAMBA – Clerk to Parliament Benedict Xaba has officially called for the 12th Parliament to reconvene today.

According to an urgent press statement by Xaba, the newly sworn-in Members of Parliament (MPs) will be nominating senate hopefuls today, from which 10 Senators will be elected by the end of the week.

This follows the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the House of Assembly on Friday, October 6, where MPs Jabulani ‘Buy Cash’ Mabuza and Madala Mhlanga were elected into the roles, respectively.

The MPs have already started gathering at the Parliament House, for a briefing which started at 11:30 AM.

According to the Clerk to Parliament, the nominations for the elections of Senators will begin at 2:30 PM.
