MBABANE – “As Senators of whatever age, we will be working with haste.”
These were the words of President of the Senate of the 12th Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Senator Lindiwe Dlamini. Dlamini was speaking soon after the official swearing-in of Prince Gcokoma as a Senator, following his appointment by His Majesty King Mswati III.
“I Gcokoma Dlamini, swear that I will be faithful, and pledge allegiance to King Mswati III, his heirs and successors, by following the law, so help me God,” said Prince Gcokoma when taking his oath as assisted by Attorney General Mashampu Khumalo.
The Senate President went on to congratulate and encourage members of Senate to collaborate and work with speed.
“The work on our shoulders is indeed immense. We will do what is expected of us – we heard that His Majesty expects public servants to work with haste. As Senators of whatever age, we will be working with haste,” said the Senate President after the official swearing in of Prince Gcokoma.
The Senate President also confirmed that Senators will be properly educated on how parliamentary business is conducted, as dictated by the Standing Orders which are provisioned by the Constitution of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
