Sipho Mandlazi shared with us how he met his wife, Nondumiso Hlatshwayo, for the first time, and she gave him butterflies, which made him fail to stop looking at her. Although it took at least a few weeks to finally get the courage to call her after stealing her number from his sister’s phone, who happens to be friends with her, he finally posed last year on Valentine’s Day.

“I first met her at the shopping mall in Mbabane, and I just saw a flower. On the other hand, I was shy about approaching her, given that I had never spoken to her before. The attraction was so strong that I could not stop looking at her.” He went on to add, “I was my sister that day who happens to know her, and she warned me not to play around with her. I couldn’t stop looking at where she was going.”

“The second time I met her, I had gone to check on a friend and saw this beautiful woman again, yet I was telling my friend about this beautiful woman, and I didn’t have her number. We greeted, and she said hi back with a sweet voice, and I couldn’t stop looking at her. After she left, my friend asked if she was the one driving me crazy and advised that I approach her. I stole her number from my sister’s phone after she forgot it. The groom shared that it took him at least six to eight weeks to call her, and the rest is history.

The bride also shared her version. She said: “We started dating on the 19th of June 2021, and he proposed on the 14th of February 2023. We met around 2019—I do not remember the date—we met at Clicks Mbabane. He was with his sister, who happens to be my friend. I remember we passed each other, and after a few minutes, we both turned sabukana. According to him, my friend did not want to give him my numbers, and he would come to my workplace with the hope of seeing me, but he never saw me until he got my number around April 2021. He then called, and the rest history.”
