MBABANE– After bringing their fire at the Luju Festival early this year, house music trio, the Shepard Brothers, are set to ignite at the first inaugural Pongola Youth in Arts Festival.
The festival will be held on November 26, 2022 at Ncotshane Sports Grounds in Pongola, South Africa.
Performer and music producer, Slinda Vilakati, a member of the trio, said that they worked hard to get gigs and extra hard to perform their craft.
“We search for gigs and find the organizers to submit our content and profiles. We then get booked if the organizers like our work,” said Vilakati.
Vilakati said that they were very excited to be a part of the very first festival which was in line with their mandate of encouraging and giving the youth a platform to express their art.
“Being a creative is a lifestyle and you cannot escape it. We take our craft seriously which is why we take time to rehearse and listen to new music to incorporate it into our performances to make it different all the time,” said Vilakati.
The creative further mentioned that it was easier to work on events that had a theme because it gave a proper guide line on how to prepare for an act.
“We need to choose the type of dress, face painting and music depending on the particular theme and above everything else we need to perfect our act through a lot of rehearsals,” said Vilakati.
