SIBONGISENI ZONDI CHOSEN FOR CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP IN MANCHESTER

MBABANE – Another young liSwati will be joining the Chevening Programme as a scholar in Public Relations and Digital Communications at the University of Salford, Manchester. Sibongiseni Zondi is the current Communications Officer at the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs.

Announcing the achievement, Zondi took to Facebook where he said, “Dreams do come true, even for boys from Sihhoye. I am honoured and excited to share that I have been #ChosenForChevening!

The world is digitising everything and our role as Communicators is to also digitise our messaging and storytelling while maintaining efficiency and effectiveness. I am therefore excited about the learning ahead and bringing this knowledge back home to contribute to Digital Communications advancement in Eswatini.

I am so grateful to the Chevening Awards (FCDO) and UK in Eswatini for this amazing opportunity. The Chevening Scholarship is one of the most prestigious and competitive scholarships in the world. As you can expect, getting here hasn’t been easy- third time’s the charm. I am grateful to everyone, in particular, my wonderful support structure, who have supported me amazingly throughout this intense journey. A huge shout-out to The Knowledge Institute for the amazing support as well!

And of course, I’ll be based in Manchester, a city that has captured my imagination for almost my entire life, for obvious reasons! This is truly the stuff of dreams!
