MBABANE – Emaswati should prepare for a significant drop in temperatures, starting from today evening.
This is according to a statement issued by the Eswatini Meteorological Service yesterday (Thursday, June 6, 2024).
The statement highlighted that a weak cold front would be expected to pass over the country from today evening (Friday, June 7, 2024). It is likely to bring very cold temperatures overnight, into Saturday (June 8, 2024) especially over the highveld. Overnight temperatures are expected to stay below 7°C (Celsius) over some places from tomorrow onwards.
It further emphasises that daytime temperatures are also expected to drop significantly, mainly tomorrow, remaining below 13°C in the highveld and below 20°C in the lowveld. Only a slight rise to about15°C is expected over the highveld on Sunday (June 9, 2024). However, maximum daily temperatures are expected to gradually improve from Wednesday (June 12, 2024).
Furthermore, moderate to strong windy conditions will still persist over most parts of the country, especially in the Lubombo Plateau on Saturday.
“The nation is therefore, advised to take all the necessary precautions, Eswatini Meteorological Services will continue to monitor the weather system and will update the nation as appropriate, and citizens are advised to stay tuned to local media for updates,” the statement said.
