MBABANE – The national team, Sihlangu new interim Coach Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane is expected to announce his squad set to start camp on Friday, June 14, 2024 in preparations of the COSAFA Cup.
Ntibane was announced as Sihlangu interim coach today morning (Thursday, June 12, 2024) after two consecutive defeats by Angola and Mauritius in the past five days during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Ntibane will lead the team that is expected to be a youthful squad alongside Under-20 Coach Mduduzi ‘Sikhalo’ Nxumalo and Under-17 Coach Nsindiswa Gama to the Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) Cup.
Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane said Ntibane is expected to announce his own team after the change sin the technical bench. He said after considering the results from the two games against Angola and Mauritius, they decided to ring changes within the technical bench.
Simelane had announced earlier that it was Kunene who was going to lead the team to the COSAFA Cup with Ntibane and Ernest Mavuso being his assistants but then EFA had a change of mind after the two losses in the World Cup Qualifiers.
“Our focus now will be building a team that will represent us well in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers set for September. They will be in charge while we are working on recruiting the permanent coach as interviews are still going on,” he said.
Sihlangu was expected back home on Wednesday afternoon from Mauritius.
