MBABANE – Meet Simphiwe Mkhulisi (24), a young woman who ensures that her child never goes hungry.
According to information sourced from Eswatini World Vision’s account, Simphiwe’s life as a single mother had been fraught with challenges until her involvement with the CANGO News-funded project, “Halting The Spread Of HIV/AIDS And Reversing Its Impact In The Swazi Society,” facilitated by World Vision Eswatini. This project became a turning point for her, significantly altering her circumstances and providing hope for a better future.
It is stated that she engaged in group sessions known as “Stepping Stones” and “WORTH,” offered by the project in 2023. These sessions played a pivotal role in granting her a renewed sense of purpose and determination. Building upon her laundry service venture to sustain her family, she eventually ventured into the realm of nail artistry, where she cultivated her expertise and gained recognition for her talent.
“I just bought my first ever washing machine! My next goal is to save for a shipping container that I will use for my Laundromat,” she said.
It is reported that the project extended further support by enrolling Simphiwe in a six-month welding training program. Currently, she is in pursuit of an internship to obtain practical experience and further solidify her skill set. Simphiwe’s transformative journey from a struggling single mother to a thriving entrepreneur is nothing short of inspiring. Her unwavering commitment has not only ensured a stable and loving home for her child but also exemplifies the profound behaviour change and impact the project aims to achieve.
