SIPHOFANENI – Nomalungelo ‘LaZwide’ Simelane had a warm and insightful first day on the job as she was formally introduced to the Siphofaneni Inkhundla yesterday.
Indvuna of the Siphofaneni Inkhundla Council Mzimela Simelane expressed the council’s eagerness to work with LaZwide, following their period of not having an MP representing the constituency. “We are very happy. We hope that our projects which were on standby can finally continue now that we have a representative in parliament. We didn’t have anyone we could send with our issues to parliament, so now we’re grateful that that she is here to collect our community’s grievances and come back with answers and a plan,” said Mzimela Simelane.
LaZwide also expressed an eagerness to hit the ground running with her work. She was appreciative of how she was welcomed by the council on her first day where she was getting reports on progress in the constituency’s goals. “The way they received me inside, they gave me updates on all projects as to where they are now and what’s next. Mine is to say that I believe we will work well together as I learn from them and get their ideas on different things”, said the new MP.
LaZwide has recently been elected as the representative member of parliament (MP) for the Siphofaneni inkhundla. She joined the by-elections after the position was evacuated by the her self-exiled husband Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane. She will be in office until 2023.
