SIX COMMUNITY PROJECTS AWARDED GRANTS TOTALING E1.1 MILLION

MBABANE – Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Moses Vilakati says Eswatini needs to do more “on issues of environmental protection, particularly adapting to the reality of Climate Change.” He has been speaking when commissioning the programme of work for the Environment Fund for the financial year 2022/2023.

A total of six community projects were awarded grants amounting to E1 135 930 to carry out environmental projects. The project is funded by the UNDP.

Minister Vilakati: “As the country faces these dire challenges, we are reminded that the Eswatini Environment Fund was established to help the country to better respond to these challenges.”

Minister Vilakati: “The projects are meant for environmental protection while at the same time helping to boost the local economies and create sustainable jobs, especially for vulnerable groups namely women and the youth.”

Eswatini Environment Authority Board Chair Mfanaleni Mkhatshwa: “We remain confident that the funding of such programmes, projects and activities through the Eswatini Environment Fund remains one of the best opportunities we can ensure that we prevent most of the environmental damage faced by our communities.”
