The Social Media Awards (SMA) has shown support for healthcare initiatives through partnering with Pact Eswatini who initiated a PrEP campaign to raise awareness, uptake and adherence on PrEP use.

In their promotional posters, they have been using the tagline ‘Let’s PrEPare’ in order to raise awareness on the use of PrEP in the country and also as a manner of preparing for their actual event.

Asked why the SMA decided to show interest in this initiative, Swazi Boy Entertainment’s CEO, Mthunzi Zwane, also known as ‘Shadow’, stated that it was their responsibility to disseminate information regarding health issues and the help that the public can get regarding these issues.

“By the virtue of being in an industry that deals with a lot of people, we thought it would be a good idea to be of pivotal in disseminating information on health issues in the country. We need to be a part of ensuring that the public is well informed regarding health services that are available to them.

“This partnership will also assist in raising awareness on PrEP use which is one of the reasons as to why the PrEP campaign was initiated with us” said Zwane.

The Social Media Awards focus on giving creatives that are in the country in different industries the opportunity to be recognised through their work and talents. People in the culinary space, arts, comedy, design work, event space, influencers, beauty and many more industries are nominated and voted for to select one person in each of the different categories.
