MBABANE – COVID-19 cannot prevent Emaswati from praying.
Rising figures of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has caused the Kingdom of Eswatini to once again celebrate the Somhlolo Festival of Praise virtually.
The event, which marks the birthday of the late King Sobhuza II, will be celebrated on Thursday. This day is also a holiday and the ministry of Home Affairs has stated that the service can be followed on National Radio and Eswatini TV.
In a statement released by Princess Lindiwe Dlamini today, the service will start at 10 am and will be held under strict COVID-19 Regulations.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs announces that the Somhlolo Festival of Praise will be held virtually on Thursday 22 July 2021, from 10am,” stated the Minister.
July 22 is an annual public holiday, on this day, King Sobhuza II was born.
To commemorate this day, the country assembles at the Lobamba National Church for a thanksgiving service annually. The service is known as ‘Somhlolo National Festival of Praise’.
