MBABANE -The Spirit of Hip-Hop has been officially launched and if the first phase of line up is anything to go by, Hip Hop heads are in for a good time.

On Friday, So Fresh announced that the acclaimed Hip-Hop show is making a comeback on July 29, 2023, at the Albert Millin.

This will will see the likes of Supa CDQ, EMTEE, Qibho intellectual and Master P form part of the line up.

Worth noting is that the last edition of the event was held at Esibayeni Lodge and was fairly attended by hip-hop heads in the country.

The stables took to their social media pages to announce the event, which was well-received by locals and hip-hop heads in the country.

Meanwhile, one of the event organizers and a hip-hop pioneer KRTC said they were looking forward to unpacking the event in the next coming months. By unpacking he meant information like the venue, artists and everything alike.

It was also during the launch that, the Mayham mixtaoe was sampled for invited guests, talented lyricists and four  skilled producers  came  together to create a dynamic hip-hop mixtape in just 19 hours.

The project, titled “The Mayham Mixtape,” was recorded at Legends Backpackers, where the artists had a retreat to discuss the music industry.

The mixtape showcases the impressive skills of Eswatini’s most prolific rap musicians that include; Sarnilo, Qibho Intalektual, Yellow Bud, BluuJay, Lution, EimSoFly, Louis Lane, AyZee, Grixxly, Kena, B.Sim and CheiStar. The producers include Alex Muti, Zodivac (from Ghana), and the prolific Chaboy.

The project was  designed to market the  exciting annual show ‘The Spirit of HipHop’.

The mixtape was recorded in a span of two days at the beautiful Legends Backpackers location, where the artists and producers were able to fully focus on their craft and create something truly special.

The result is a six-song mixtape that seamlessly blends the unique styles and talents of each artist, creating a sound that is both fresh and innovative.

“We wanted to create something that truly captures the essence of HipHop and showcases the incredible talent we have here in Eswatini,” said Mzwandile Lution Nxumalo who is the Project Manager and Head of Communication for both the Mayham Mixtape and the Spirit of Hip Hop event.

He added that the environment during the recording of the mixtape was fun-filled in much the same way a school camp is.

“We had given ourselves three days to finish everything, but we ended up doing it in 19 hours because of the positive pressure and the fun of being around other highly creative individuals in the country”, added Lution

Lution’s words were echoed by Melusi Zox Dlamini who is one of the Executive Producers of the Mayham Mixtape.

“Our focus was mainly on Artist and Product Development. We set up an environment with a deliberate process for exceptionally talented creatives to produce, write, and learn about the music business all while content was being generated. We invited the founder of MOTI who is also MD of Empire Publishing Munya Chanesta. MOTI is the ultimate platform for learning about the African Music Industry. Enabling African creatives looking to enter the music industry by providing premium curated resources, access, and tools necessary in the steps needed to become a major player in the future of the African music business.” – said  Dlamini.
