MBABANE – The Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) has warned schools from using ‘muti’ or illegal substances during the Instacash Schools tournament.
The tournament sponsored to the tune of E375 000 enters the last 16 stage on Wednesday. ESRC Media officer Dumisani Ntiwane said they were expecting a good behaviour from all the schools during the tournament.
“We discourage believe or the use of illegal substance in sport and we are not expecting it at this prestigious tournament. We want to see a good behaviour from all the stakeholders as to keep the sponsor happy. Sports people must believe in their hard work and talent not from other things,” he said.
Ntiwane was addressing the schools during the draw on Monday at Instacash Offices in Mbabane. The 16 schools were also presented with the soccer kit they would wear during the tournament.
He then thanked Instacash for the generous sponsorship and said their contribution in the development of sports in the country has not gone unnoticed.
Instacash Managing Director Mandla ‘Cheeks’ Nxumalo urged the schools to also use their platform so they can be able to continue with the sponsorship in the coming years. He said Instacash was now almost available in most places in the country. He said the platform could be used for transferring or sending money, buy electricity and pay other bills.
“We plead for your support as that will make us be able to continue with such a good partnership. There are lot of opportunities with our platform as now we encourage people to be our agencies,” he said.
The last 16 stage will kick-off on Wednesday with the Manzini Regions too four schools at Manzini Club where Ngcoseni High will face Manzini Central in the first game and the St John Bosco will take on Mcozini in the second match.
