…as Down Memory Lane seeks to revive sports

MBABANE – Eswatini sports legends will gather on July 15 to fix sports in the country.
This was revealed today during a media briefing by the Down Memory Lane organisation when announcing the Sports Indaba.
Speaking during the briefing, the Chairperson of the organisation, Donatus Zwane, revealed that they started Down Memory Lane in 2021 to honour all sports legends in the country, across the different sporting arenas.
“As we were conducting the programme last year and this year, there some small issues that arose, such as the declining quality of sports in the country,” said Zwane.
He expanded that upon hearing sports legends call into their regularly scheduled radio programme, they realised the incredible wealth of knowledge amongst the legends, which is why they decided to bring them all together for the sports indaba.
Paul Dlamini, who is also a member of Down Memory Lane, echoed Zwane’s sentiments. He noted that players tend to leave the game altogether once they get injuries or stop being on the starting line-up, something which has to change because the athletes can still contribute to the games.
He added that this is why they decided to host the sports Indaba and invite all sports legends in the country.
Participating organisations in the sports indaba will include the Eswatini Football Association and the Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council. The Sports Indaba is set to be on July 15.
