STEM EXPO 2023 THIS SATURDAY

MBABANE – Only two days left before the third edition of the highly anticipated STEM Expo after it was postponed two weeks ago.

The event is hosted by the Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP). 

According to invitations, attendees should be ready to have their minds blown by all the mind-boggling innovations that will be showcased on the day. 

In fact, the event was previously scheduled for October 28 but was postponed to November 11, 2023 at UNESWA Sports Emporium.

According to African Union Agenda 2063, under goals and priority stresses the need for a highly skilled labor force underpinned by Science, Technology, Research and Innovation to transform economies and improve social wellbeing; hence the need to fill the youth minds with critical information on STEM opportunities in Eswatini.

The Eswatini National Youth Council stated on their Facebook page that is a great opportunity for the young people and also encouraged the youth to go. 

“The Eswatini National Youth Policy highlights the need to provide the youth with entrepreneurship and innovation education programs to take advantage of the 4th Industrial Revolution also the Eswatini National Development Strategy calls for deliberate approaches to addressing skills shortages and mismatches especially in STEM, “ reads the post.

Meanwhile, RSTP has disclosed in their fb page that speakers for the event include, Bongani Dlamini who will explain some of the broad principles of the medical laboratory profession, Mary Basumbuko will dive deep into the captivating world of medicine and uncover all the secrets to kick-starting your dream career as a medical doctor.

Also, Nomcebo Tshabalala, who works in the Construction Industry as a Project Manager, will be sharing her journey in maneuvering this male-dominated industry as a lady and Nosizwe Noss Sigwane , a professional statistician, will give an informative presentation on the profession.     

It is also said that the Eswatini Skills Audit Report commends comprehensive investment in skills development mainly for specialist professions, technicians and STEM and the provision of grants or scholarships for youth in STEM related fields. STEM Careers is meant to help shape the future.
