NHLANGANO – Aspiring entrepreneurs are called to apply for practical learning of Solar Renewable Energy.

Solar Training and Resources Energy Entrepreneurship Centre (STREEC) is a vocational Centre that deals with training of entrepreneurs mostly the underprivileged to mould them into becoming  electrician experts. This Centre is said to be sponsored by a donor Dr. Makhaphen from Norway and recently running a Shiselweni Care Centre at Pasture Valley Farm in Nhlangano where marginalized children are catered for their needs.

This project will run for six months whereby the trainees will be learning about installation of Solar and Renewable Energy. Last year, under the same project, they admitted 10 of applicants and this year only 11 will be administered. The learners undergo a period of 6 months learning about theory and the basics, after that they will be trained for internship.

Sphamandla Matsentjwa, the Electrical trainer at STREEC stated that this will benefit those coming from low background since they will be trained how to generate clean and safe power. Therefore, they will be able to apply those skills and make a living. “The vision behind STREEC is to train the certain individuals to be employers and not employees. We generate the safer power like solar and wind power energy” said Matsentjwa.

When asked about the difference between STREEC and Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC), Matsentjwa revealed that their company focus on the safe power energy and they opt to help those underprivileged whilst EEC focus on making profit since it is a company. He further mentioned after taking this course, the lives of the eleventh who will take part in training will never be the same again.

The deadline for application is 02 December and application forms can be collected at NATICC Nhlangano reception.
