KASHEWULA – Another life has been impacted positively by MTN Eswatini.
Yesterday started as a normal day for Tanele Sifundza as she boarded a kombi and drove 12 kilometres to attend her dressmaking lessons.
Her day changed for the better shortly before 1pm when she was declared Dlala sibone winner for the month of February.
Sifundza received news from MTN officers who then presented her with a cheque of E30 000, prize money she won after playing MTN’s popular quiz game known as Dladla sibone.
The reserved Sifundza was speechless and remained expressionless for a moment until her schoolmates at Majembeni Neighbourhood Care Point started screaming in jubilation.
When the announcement was made by MTN Value Added Services Coordinator Lindokuhle Mamba, Sifundza was about to finish yesterday’s lesson.
Sifundza said she would use the money to purchase a sewing machine so that she starts up her business when she graduates in four months’ time.
“I have been training for the past eight months and the machine I am using will go back to World Vision when I finish. So this money will help me a lot in buying my own machine and other sewing material,” she said.
The mother of one said she has never pocketed money to the tune of E30 000 before.
“I have never worked in my entire life because I dropped out of school at Form IV after my parents lost their jobs,” she said.
She said she would also take care of her child’s needs as she is a single parent.
“I started playing this game in 2021. Last year I played a bit and stopped as I could no longer afford it. I started all over again and I would spend maximum E60 per day,” she said.
Dlala sibone started as Smagamaga in 2021 where a customer is given sets of questions to answer and accumulate points which make them eligible for a draw. Draws are conducted daily where 50 winners get 100MB of data, weekly where six winners get E1 500 each and monthly where one winner gets E30 000.
