MBABANE – Farmers can collect their farm inputs which are subsidised by the Government of Eswatini as of the 1st of September. The announcement was made by Ministry of Agriculture Principal Secretary (PS) Sydney Simelane.
The Farm Inputs Subsidy Programme is an initiative by Government to help Ewatini remain food-secure by empowering agriculture in the country. Under the programme, farmers only input 35% of the total cost of farm inputs they need during their farming cycle – 65% is covered by the Government.
Announcing the start of the programme, PS Sydney Simelane wanted “to further encourage farmers to get ready for the season through acquiring their farm inputs timeously. He also revealed that, “the list of Agro-dealers who are ready is as follows: KZM investments found in Mhlambanyatsi, BuildIt Nhlangano, BuildIt Mbabane, Cabstore found in Dvokolwako, Farm Solutions found in Matsapha, SAAB found in Matsapha and they’re also available in Siteki, Millerton Group in Mbabane behind Galp filling station, MML Investments – they are found at Mbabane SEDCO, SAS found in Manzini, and then Ngwempisi Multipurpose Cooperative who are found in Ngwempisi.”
Simelane also revealed that the farmers who could not get their farm inputs last year will be compensated with inputs of up to E7,000 this year.
