MBABANE – On Friday (May 24, 2024), Julio’s Cinema in Manzini Lifestyle welcomed 130 students from seven different schools, eager to celebrate Africa Month through a cultural film exhibition.
The exhibition kicked off from 10am to 1pm.
The event attracted pupils from Manzini Central, St. Michael’s, Kobe Ramokgadi, Sydney Williams, Salesian, and Ngwane Park High, who eagerly accepted the invitation to participate in the educational and entertaining cultural film exhibition.
The goal of the event was to show that our culture and traditions are important for raising the younger generation, as they help them to know who they are and to become responsible citizens.
Pupils from St. Theresa and Salesian performed the traditional umtsimba ceremony while documentary films on various local dances, including ummemo, captivated audiences at the cultural film exhibition.
The successful event was organised by the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC), which has partnered with Eswatini National Film and TV. The aim was to offer an educational and engaging experience that explored the rich cultural heritage of Emaswati.
During an interview with Eswatini National Film and TV Association Spokesperson Zakhele Mabuza, he said, “It was an eye-opener for students and council that our culture resonates well with our daily lives.”
He added that students got an opportunity to learn easily through audio-visuals in the questions and answer sessions, which were in between the productions.
