MBABANE – Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo has
called on high-net worth individuals to support the Junior Achievement Eswatini
Angel Investor Network Programme.
Minister Khumalo issued this statement during the launch of the programme in
Mbabane.
It is said the Angel Investor Network Programme is aimed at coordinating equity
support for young entrepreneurs from wealthy private investors also known as
'angel investors' to provide equity capital to entrepreneurs or start-ups. The launch
was also attended by business sector representatives.
Speaking during the launch Minister of Sports, Youth and Culture Harries
Bulunga, who was representing minister Khumalo, said each and every business
partner should find a possible way of giving a helping hand to the youth of the
country for a better tomorrow of our Kingdom.
Meanwhile, JA Executive Director Phetsile Masilela said, "With this programme
we are opening a new page for young people to take a step further and grow. In
most cases, our young people fail in business because of lack of experience and
expertise. They also lack sufficient financial investment."
UNFPA Head of Office Margaret Thwala-Tembe said the programme was a
potential game changer for the challenges faced by young people.
“UNFPA-Eswatini remains committed to supporting the efforts of Government to
develop our greatest asset which is 700 000 young Emaswati," she said.
