SIDVOKODVO – Swazi Rally is back with a bang.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the rally is giving away its biggest, most expensive prize – a Suzuki Boulevard M109R.

This was revealed by the Communications Officer for the Swazi Rally when sharing information about what to expect in this year’s edition of the three-decade motorbike extravaganza.

“The fun begins at 6 PM on September 1. Oscar Mbo and Dr Victor will be taking the stage alongside local DJs, and the day will be fun packed with games, competitions, and the crowning of Miss Swazi Rally,” revealed Zwane.

She went on to detail the activities scheduled for the main day of the rally on September 2.

“The day starts with a mass ride where bikers get together, forming a convoy to see the beauty of Eswatini before ending the ride back at Riders Ranch for a full day of activities at the motorsport arena. Various motoring competitions will be held such as Drifting, Spinning, Tyre Throwing, Drag Racing, Stunt Riding and more. From 6 PM there will be Conourse where the finest motorbikes are put on display and judged for prize giving. The day will not be short of live entertainment and prizes to be won,” expanded the Swazi Rally Communications Officer.

“The rally is also set to be more environmentally friendly this year through its partnership with Top Notch and Eric Slabbert to efficiently dispose and recycle waste gathered from the event. Festivals tend to generate a lot of waste, this can go up to 53,000 tonnes of waste each year in Africa alone. This partnership promotes environmentally responsible fun,” said Zwane, detailing some of the new additions to the rally in its 30th anniversary.

She further noted that a 6 AM church service will be held on Sunday morning, September 3, as bikers get ready to return home.

“Some will stay to witness the Reed Dance on Monday. This is accommodated by allowing campers to stay on until September 4, when the camp site closes,” she added.

Swazi Rally is an annual motor biking event which draws crowds of bikers from all over the continent. The rally was founded in 1993 with the vision of creating a seamless event for the biking community of Southern Africa.

It is one of the oldest and biggest rallies in Eswatini and has made quite a name for itself over the years.

The event, which was first held at the Somhlolo National Stadium with just a few hundred bikers, has grown tremendously, attracting over 10,000 bikers and non-bikers alike, a large proportion being tourists from all over Southern Africa and overseas.

The 30th anniversary of the rally will be held at Rider’s Ranch, Sidvokodvo from September 1 to September 3, and Gates open on August 31 to accommodate campers.
