MBABANE – The Taiwan Technical Mission and Young Heroes, a partnership of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), hosted a five-day entrepreneurship course to empower Eswatini’s women in Mangcongco.
The community of Mangcongco, in the western part of the Manzini region, was amazed by the visit of the Taiwan Embassy last week Friday (May 10, 2024), where it enabled many Emaswati to acquire life skills and achieve stable income, through supporting the Insika Yelikusasa Lensha program.
The Taiwan Embassy and Taiwan Medical Mission conducted free health and outreach services for the community, serving 379 Emaswati and donating bags of rice. It also hosted an ultrasound workshop to familiarise Eswatini medical personnel with ultrasound usage. This is one of the contributions made by Taiwan to Eswatini in the month of April.
The Government of Taiwan also helped Eswatini by inviting about eight companies in the country to participate in an international expo in Taiwan and to exhibit exquisite products, which renewed widespread attention and administration. The Taiwan Embassy also contributed by giving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Eswatini a vehicle for State protocol purpose.
The Taiwan Technical Mission promoted Taiwanese watermelon varieties, receiving endless praise for their taste from samples. It has also persisted in advancing Eswatini’s pig farming industry, instructing farming in breeding high- quality pigs. It has further collaborated with Eswatini College of Technology to offer Mandarin courses since August 2023 with over 150 attendees.
The Taiwan Food for children and Families (TFCF) played a crucial role in helping Eswatini woman become economically independent by offering vocational training courses such as baking. These are the contributions done by Taiwan in developing the lives of Emaswati for the month of April.
