MBABANE – The Republic of China (Taiwan) has donated 120 bags of rice to six schools in the Hhohho Region.
The donation took place today in Mbabane and Taiwan made the donation through its Embassy, which is based in Mbabane. The bags were received by Hhohho Region MP Zanele Magagula and Mbabane East MP Welcome Dlamini.
According to local media reports, many of the schools that received the donations are around Mbabane. They include Mater Dolorosa High School, Mangwaneni Primary School, Nkwalini Primary School, St Marks Primary School, and Mqolo Primary School.
The donation is aimed at strengthening the feeding schemes of the schools. Meanwhile, the Embassy of Taiwan in Eswatini also came through for the people of Mangcongco Constituency, by providing free medical services to 379 residents of that constituency.
This happened yesterday (April 8, 2024), despite the wet and chilly weather conditions that persisted. Staffs from “Taiwan-Africa Vegetable Initiative” and “Woman Business Start-Up Microfinance Revolving Fund” also joined the service for local people.
Treatment received by residents included medical consultation, ultrasound check-up, dispensation of medication as well as health and nutrition education aiming to enhance awareness for daily health care and balance diet in the community.
Mangcongco MP Lomalanga Dlamini said that residents were very grateful for Taiwan’s friendship and kind assistance. According to the Embassy, it is challenging for certain far-reaching rural communities to get adequate access to medical care, so Taiwan is determined to continue to reach out to communities and give medical assistance, despite the weather conditions.
