MBABANE – The Republic of China (Taiwan) continues to lend a helping hand to Emaswati, as it has been able to donate E1 million to help not less than 201 Emaswati in one month.
This happened in July 2023 and since then, the East Asian country has never stopped helping Emaswati, up to this day. The Taiwan government funded the Insika Yelikusasa Lensha YeSwatini project, which awarded E1 million to 201 youth to grow their own businesses.
The Taiwan Africa Vegetable Initiative (TAVI) donated E300 000 worth of tanks and garden tools to 16 schools for the cultivation of traditional vegetables. Taiwan Fund for Children and Families embraced their 10th anniversary in Eswatini, and has helped countless orphans and vulnerable youth.
Taiwan Technical Mission introduced fruits suitable for cultivation in Eswatini, including dragon fruit, guava and strawberry, and assisted in selling them to local supermarkets. Taiwan Medical Mission conducted outreach in Mankayane and Ntfonjeni, serving nearly 560 Emaswati and also donated bags of rice.
Taiwan Medical Mission and the Luke Commission jointly organized a seminar to share the diagnosis, management and treatment of neurovascular and urological diseases. Taiwan Technical Mission hosted workshops on artificial insemination of pigs. Farmers were all amazed.
Taiwan Technical Mission and the Eswatini Epilepsy Organization held epilepsy workshop again to train more than 140 medical staff to better understand, treat and care for epilepsy. Taiwan Technical Mission donated five more transcutaneous jaundice meters to Eswatini hospitals and trained healthcare personnel to be able to provide better maternal and child healthcare. Taiwan Medical Mission held a workshop on emergency obstetrics and new born care to share the knowledge of treatment for maternal and neonatal emergencies.
