LUDZELUDZE – The Republic of Taiwan continues to invest in helping Eswatini with food security – not just by donating food for the needy, but also by donating farming equipment to further capacitate the country’s agricultural value chain.
Today, the Ambassador of Taiwan as represented by Consular Minister Oliver Han handed over the equipment at the Ludzeludze Regional Development Administration (RDA) offices.
Speaking during the presentation of the equipment, Consular Minister Oliver Han remarked that, “The project seeks to improve the efficiency of the tractor hire service provided by the National Maize Corporation (NMC). in order to strengthen technical cooperation with Eswatini extensively, Taiwan’s Technical Mission currently weclcomes the Minstry of Agriculture to implement three projects including fruit tree production and market project (phase 2), Pig industry and husbandry project (phase 2), and agricultural project (phase 2). Each project has run very smoothly so far.”
The equipment includes machinery for ploughing, cultivation, and pesticide control among others. Expressing appreciation on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development was Dr Tambo Gina, who remarked that, “We hope that the equipment being received today will play a great role in the country’s growth and fight against poverty”.
Minister of Agriculture Jabulani Mabuza echoed Minister Gina’s words of hope and gratitude. “We believe that the NMC will take proper care of this equipment being presented today, we also hope the end-users of the tractors and equpment take care with equipment so we can use for years to come.”
