MBABANE – The Ministry of Heath has received over 100 oxygen concentrators and 5 000 protective gowns from Taiwan. The items will be useful in Eswatini’s COVID-19 interventions and will be distributed across the country’s hospitals.
Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi said the donated items are needed for the care of patients with COVID-19 and they will surely improve the capacity to deliver oxygen therapy to critical COVID-19 cases.
“In severe cases, COVID-19 patients start experiencing difficulty in breathing hence oxygen concentrators can be used to help pump oxygen into their lungs, to manage the situation. Therefore, a steady supply of such items is very important,” she said.
Meanwhile, Taiwan Ambassador Jeremy Liang said: “Since our countries established relations 53 years ago, Taiwan has made it a priority to collaborate with Eswatini in related measures, policies and programmes. We will continue working together in safeguarding the health and well being of emaSwati.”
