TAIWAN TECHNICAL MISSION AND MINISTRY OF COMMERCE TRAIN LEATHER CRAFTERS

EZULWINI – The Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in the leather business have gotten a boost in skills through a training by the Taiwan Technical Mission in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade.

The training was carried out in partnership with the Ministry’s Capacity Building Project for Microfinance Focusing on Grassroots Women in Eswatini. 33 SME’s participated in the training, which focused on different aspects of the businesses, including on how to work with leather in different ways. The training training started in Ezulwini today.

Speaking during the training, Taiwan Techical Mission Business Trainer Grace Dludlu remarked that, “It makes us happy as the Taiwan Technical Mission to work on this project as it aligns with the project of training women to get into business. What makes us happy is that the businesspeople who are here are mixed genders of both men and women. What also makes us happy is that among the leather crafters who produce finished goods to bring income into their homes will leave with new information on how to deal with the different kinds of leathers.

Dludlu also remarked that the different types of leather in which the participants were trained include goat and cattle leather. They were also trained on maintaining the highest quality of product throughout the process of curing leather for different markets.

The training will end on Friday 23 September.
