MBABANE – A task team has been set up to transform the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) into a first class institution.
This was said by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini today (Thursday, June 6, 2024) at Mountain View in Mbabane, during the Cabinet/Eswatini Editors Forum Breakfast Meeting. The premier said this was in line with His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision if the first world status.
“Government has also approved a competent task team to work with the University of Eswatini administration to transform the University into a world class university in line with His Majesty’s Vision of the country attaining the first world Status,” Dlamini said.
He also mentioned that Government had approved a task team for the comprehensive review of the education system from pre-primary to tertiary level with the goal of making it one of the best in Africa. The task team, according to the PM, was composed of local and international experts. “Work has already begun in this regard and is expected to be completed before the end of the calendar year,” he said.
he prime minister also stated that Government acknowledged the challenge of teachers hired on contract. “The problem is not necessarily that the teachers are on contract but the employment conditions in the contract, which need to be improved. The challenge, however, is the availability of financial resources,” he concluded.
