MBABANE– Through a public statement the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO) has announced the new program to guide elderly and disabled people.

The office of the Deputy Mayor informed members of the public that as of April 2023, elderlies that receive their grant through cell phones will now receive their grant on the first week of every month going forward.

This will be the new way going forward, as the office has introduced a new program in the way grants are paid out.

The change and announcement come shortly after Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku encouraged the elderly to be cautious of their money and how they use it.

He said this when he was urging persons with disabilities to stand for the upcoming national elections and the Nation to vote for them. He was speaking during the Mhlambanyatsi Inkhundla Disability Day, last week.

The DPM also said more persons with disabilities will benefit from the Disability Grants programme this coming financial year, depending on the approval of an increased budget request by Parliament.

The Mhlambanyatsi Inkhundla Disability Day sought to celebrate and acknowledge Persons with Disabilities and to amplify their voices for inclusion in mainstream economic activities. The Inkhundla also registered Persons with Disabilities to be submitted to the DPM’s Office so that they benefit from the Disability Grant.
