MBABANE – Applications closed!
The Epic Gig has closed artist applications after receiving over 2000 applications for this year’s festival. The Epic Gig Episode V opened the applications on December 20 last year.
The fifth edition of the festival received an overwhelming response from applicants. The selected applicants will get a chance to perform at the festival on June 28–30 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre.
When reached for comment The Epic Gig Festival Director, Tammy Toxik Dlamini, shared with this publication that the applications were overwhelming this year. “We received over 2000 applications this year. We still have to select the finalist who will perform at the festival.“
Dlamini shared that the festival will have at least 50 artists in total, including the selected artists and the Freshmen. “We usually have eight to ten international artists, and then the rest are emaSwati,” said the festival director.
The artist applied by uploading a minute video on Facebook and Instagram and tagging Epic Gig.
It is worth mentioning that this year will still be a three-day festival. The festival will kick off on Friday and last until Sunday. The only difference is that on the third day, which is Sunday, the festival will wrap up in the morning at 10 a.m.
Last year, the fourth episode, for the first time since its inception, hosted the festival over a three-day period. In the past, it was overnight until the next morning. It was held at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre.
The Epic Gig concept was founded in 2017 by Tammy Toxic Dlamini, who wanted to have a show with a rich line-up that was epic, which has maintained its consistency with a rich line-up for the last four festivals.
Last year’s festival saw South African artists like Kwesta,YoungstaCPT, Mlindo the Vocalist, Blxckie Maglera Doe Boi, 25K, A Reece, and Aymos perform.
