MBABANE– Comic book character fans are in for a treat.
TG Entertainment will be hosting a Superheroes and Villains Costume Festival at the Prince of Wales Stadium on December 24, 2022.
According to Sibusiso Dlamini, Director at TG Entertainment, this comic-con themed event is the first of its kind in the country and is set to allow comic book lovers a chance to dress up as their favourite superhero or villain and have fun with their friends and families.
“This is the first comic-con themed event in Eswatini. I noticed that every time movies from Marvel Entertainment and DC Comics are released, there are usually large numbers of emaSwati and other nationalities at movie zones who go to watch these movies. Through this event we want the nation to enjoy being their favourite superhero or villain for the day.
“Since this will be a family event, we are also trying to incorporate something to do with Christmas so as to allow a more family friendly environment. We also hope to attract international tourists as we are currently working with Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Moses Vilakati,” said Dlamini.
Dlamini further expressed how he thinks emaSwati will be interested in this event because they will get to experience something new.
“New is always exciting,” he said.
When asked if this event will focus on characters from the Detective Comic series (DC) or Marvel Entertainment, he revealed that people may come dressed as any character they like, whether from Marvel Entertainment or DC. He expressed that it will be an adventurous experience for all in attendance.
Some characters from Marvel Entertainment and DC Comics include Spiderman, Iron man, Black Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Wolverine, Superman, Batman and many more other characters.
