MBABANE– New subjects have been introduced by the Ministry of Education and Training in a bid to help pupils achieve the best education level.

These new subjects will be introduced at the upper primary school level. The new subjects will include Science and Technology and Handcraft.

The National Curriculum Director, Musa Hlophe, said that adding these subjects will help pupils one day to discover their talent.

“It is very necessary to help pupils become the best they can be so that they can market themselves and sustain themselves in the future. This is why we have added more subjects so that they are able to relate from one of them.

“At the Upper Primary level, we have phased out general studies which we had been offering for primary phase. These will now be cancelled so that they are given a chance to find their skills and equip them on that,” said Hlophe.

Hlophe further mentioned that Agriculture and Consumer Science are comprehensive subjects.

“These two subjects are very comprehensive which is why schools will have to choose one of the two to focus on. “I am also pleased to announce that schools will no longer be using the compressed curriculum which has been during COVID-19.”
