MBABANE – Eswatini has today strengthened its mutual cooperation with Russia.

This is after Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini received a courtesy call from the representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov, who is also the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Bogdanov and his delegation are in the Kingdom of Eswatini to strengthen areas of mutual cooperation between Eswatini and the Russian Federation as well as mobilise for support from the country in their bid to host Expo 2030.

The delegation further met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Thulisile Dladla to discuss a number of issues aimed at bolstering cooperation between the two countries including Russia’s bid to host the Expo 2030 in Moscow.

“Russia is a host to a number of emaSwati students mainly in the field of Medicine and Engineering. we are boosting of a number of doctors that have been trained in Russia universities,” said the minister.

“Eswatini-Russia relations have remained strong and there was a time when we experience a tragedy where one of our own passed on while in Russia and our Maputo Embassy played a major role in repatriating the remains of mr Mpendulo Motsa. thank you for holding hands with us Emaswati in such times. there is also military cooperation whereby a number of our military personnel are training in Russia,” said minister Dladla.
