MBABANE – The Teaching Service Commission (TSC) has announced the hiring of 170 teachers in permanent positions. The announcement was made today by Chairperson of the TSC, Dr Amos Mahlalela.
“The hiring program is as such: there will be 45 permanent teachers hired in primary schools who will be classified under C3; there will be 40 degreed high school teachers who will be classified under C5; there will be 30 permanent diploma teachers (STD’s) who will be classified under C3; there will be 5 department heads hired, classified under D3; there will be 30 deputy headteachers hired for primary schools, who will be classified under D4; there will be 20 deputy head teachers hired in high schools, classified under D5”, revealed Dr. Mahlalela when making the announcement.
“Our mandate is to fight corruption whether it exists, being deliberated or where it even looks like corruption – as a commission, we fight against this. We know that there are a lot of primary school teachers who are hired on a contract basis who would like to be made permanent employees. The commission wants to be clear about the process of hiring the 45 permanent teachers. The commission will look at graduation dates, how long a person has worked as a contract teacher, as well as the age of the person,” further clarified Dr Mahlalela on the hiring process.
He added that the commission will also move teachers to high schools – those who were trained for high schools and are permanently employed in primary schools.
