MBABANE– 23-year-old hip-hop artist Sekwenele Mamba from Siphofaneni has released a music video for his song titled “Buve Betfu”

The video was released on Monday 19 June 2023 and is already at 121 views on YouTube.

When speaking to this reporter, Mamba highlighted that his music career started in 2016, as he was part of a group known as Swazi killer Boys. This group consisted of about six members.

Mamba said he, however, decided to go solo in 2018 when the group separated.

He stated that, he recorded his single through Kasi Kid and then went on to shot his music video from his own cellphone with help from his friend Mbongeni Gama.

“I shot and edited my own music video from my phone and that has shocked a lot of people and I have inspired a lot of other artists such that they have requested that I help them with their music video shots” he said.

The hiphop artist mentioned that his music genre draws inspiration from other local artists such as Jay Spitter and Mr Kangaroo. He adores these artists and even his stage name “Three o’clock the spitter” he created it on his own but the “Spitter” is from Jay’s name. He concluded by giving a little background about what inspired his single “Buve betfu”. Mamba emphasized that he is so proud of his mother language and that in his music video he raps in siSwati throughout. “I want to encourage and bring people to comprehend the importance of our own mother language” he mentioned.
